A couplet every fundraiser should know

I attended a workshop yesterday with Lynne Twist, author of The Soul Of Money.  Lynne’s inspirational message to fundraisers — fundraising is powerful work that transforms our communities — is one that every fundraiser needs to believe.

Among many insightful concepts in her materials was the opening from a Wallace Stevens poem “The Well-Dressed Man With a Beard.”

The two powerful first lines should be etched on every fundraiser’s wall and in our heart:

“After the final no there comes a yes

And on that yes, the future world depends.”
