Would you like to talk back to foundations about their grantmaking processes?
I just received a notice about Project Streamline from the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Project Streamline is a collaborative effort between grantmakers and grantseekers to improve grant application and reporting practices.
The collaborative has developed four core principles to frame improvements in these processes. These are:
- Start from zero
- Right size grant expectations
- Relieve the burden on the grantees
- Make communications and grantmaking processes clear and straightforward.
You’ll find lots to cheer about in the report, Drowning in Paperwork, Distracted from Purpose. You are invited to share your experiences and feedback on the grantseeking process by posting comments on their site.
Interestingly, one of the findings was that grantee reports just sit on a shelf, I topic that I blogged about just recently “Open Source final reports on grant funded projects?” Glad to know that the grantmakers are thinking along these lines.
